Visit the Lord of the Rings RingmakerNelson is home to the Lord of the Rings famous ringmaker, Jens Hansen.
Visiting Nelson is always an absolute pleasure for its sense of relaxation and rejuvenation all rolled into one blissful, small seaside city. The sun and sand alone are attractions enough, but add to that the beautiful gardens, long stretches of golden sand beach, renowned wineries, The World of Wearable Art and Classic Cars Museum and “The Ring” and you have the perfect stopover destination. If you love the creative side of life you’ll find the city is full of fantastic original arts, with workshops to visit showcasing paintings, sculptures, glass, fashion and jewellery.
Leafy Trafalgar Street with its plethora of outdoor cafes culminates at the distinctive Nelson Cathedral, where time relaxing on the steps in the sunshine is never wasted. Explore the phenomenal selection of dining options, from gourmet restaurants to popular local pubs. With the beautiful Nelson scenery as a backdrop, dining outdoors is the perfect way to spend a balmy evening.
But just one block away from Trafalgar Street, perched on a very unassuming corner is a world famous creative gem. It’s the workshop of Jens Hansen, “The Ringmaker” of the legendary ring from the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. A visit to Nelson is simply not complete without a visit to this internationally acclaimed ringmaker who specialises in diamond rings, The One Ring replicas and custom-made jewellery.
You can have your photo taken holding the original One Ring and purchase your own licensed replica ring or one of their stunning original creations, including a new modernistic kiwi design pendent in solid gold which makes a perfect New Zealand keepsake. We can easily add beautiful Nelson into any Lord of the Rings New Zealand itinerary.

The car rental company was a breeze to work with.
Loved our stay at bed and breakfast in Manapouri
Needed a bit more time to make it to Milford sound, because so many people, parking took lots more time than what we considered needed and we did consider parking time.
I see you went to extra effort to provide hotels with views, when available, so that was very nice
Surprised Christchurch having such a slow recovery after hurricane and disappointed not the same city as we saw many years ago
Loved the people, all so nice and friendly
Matamata and Hobbiton definitely worth it, which really surprised me! Probably one of my top favorites of the trip
Sorry we didn’t have a cave tour booked at the cave on the north island
The most negative was my poor husband’s experience, his stay in the bunk house followed by his stay at the Holiday park…., he was exhausted from no decent night’s sleep and I needed his help with the driving. He slept in the van one night! I do not know if there was ANY alternative to this, but the holiday park stay was really bad, just across from the kitchen gathering/bathrooms, etc. …with all the kids it was a zoo….literally!! I could not hear myself talk while in the room.
Lake Tekapo gorgeous!
Oh the drive thru Arthur’s Pass, maybe it was a bit cloudy, but I was a tad disappointed that we were not able to see the views of Mt. Cook I remembered and wondered if that was the route you had intended?
We loved our time and we always treasure New Zealand as it is a very special place. You are so fortunate to live there!
Thank you for all your hard work and no way could I have done it without your help!
