| Day 1: Christchurch – Mount Cook – Queenstown |

- flat farmland & braided rivers on the Canterbury Plain
- cross Burkes Pass to the arid McKenzie basin, spectacular Aoraki/Mount Cook, NZ’s highest peak
- deep glacial lakes of Tekapo and Pukaki
- rugged Kawarau Gorge to Queenstown
| Day 2: Milford Sound Day Excursion (optional extra) or day at leisure in Queenstown |
Highlights:
- time today for a day trip to Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound - ask for details
- alternatively, choose from the many activities, adventure and fun in and around Queenstown
| Day 3: Queenstown – Franz Josef (or stay an extra night in Queenstown in lieu of one night at Franz) |
Highlights:
- gold rush relics of the Kawarau Gorge
- beautiful Lakes Wanaka and Hawea
- cross Haast Pass into glacier country
- Mt Aspiring & Westland National Parks
