| Day 1: Auckland - Rotorua, heartland of Maori culture |

- southern suburbs of Auckland, over the Bombay Hills
- Hamilton on the banks of the mighty Waikato River
- Tirau for artwork creations made of corrugated iron
- sparkling Rotorua by the lake, natural geothermal wonders, adventure and Maori legends
| Day 2: In Rotorua - enjoy a day of optional sightseeing |

- experience the thermal landscapes of Rotorua, perhaps visit Te Puia thermal area
- and its Maori Village with arts, crafts and carving
- or go offroad on a 4WD adventure to walk the crater rim of Mt Tarawera

- short morning drive to Taupo on the shores of NZ's largest lake
- afternoon free for optional activities, perhaps thrilling jetboating on the Waikato River
- or an afternoon tour of Taupo's top sights

- cross the Rangitaiki Plains to wine country of Hawkes Bay
